These selected works showcase some of my expertise in start-to-finish publication layout and design.

In addition, I have successfully implemented the rebranding and redesign of several publications, including a weekly newspaper and five annual special-focus publications.

As art director for PS Communications, I also provided creative insight and feedback for our dedicated page layout artist and worked with her to create attractive, engaging styles that enhance the reader's experience and ease navigation throughout our publications.

I sought to address several challenges with my redesign of the Northwest Observer (below right). I felt the publication was initially a bit cluttered and needed a clean, unified look. It also seemed to lack a clear hierarchy of styles to ease navigation.

The new look allows for a light, airy cover that maximizes space for visuals that grab readers' attention. The condensed styles throughout the publication ease the burden on editors to painstakingly reduce word counts. This saves staff time and increases the value we can deliver within our printing budget to readers.
